This programme is for managers in manufacturing. Its focus is to help them get a deeper understanding of what a manufacturing operation is all about and to see their job very clearly in the context of the overall business in which they work.
Since its launch in 1995, the Programme has proved of major benefit to participants from a wide range of industries and management / supervisory roles and to their companies. Many past participants have gone on to senior management positions, a number have started up their own enterprises, and others have been motivated to pursue further advanced studies. All have developed and profited from the challenge and experience.
The Programme aims to build a strong link between the core management skills needed in manufacturing and the business world in which manufacturing operates. It provides the setting in which the diverse views and experiences of the participants can be pooled and it actively promotes this process, with huge value for all.
The common denominator is that participants come from a production or broad manufacturing background. The programme is designed to be a strong, comprehensive platform on which to develop a sound management career. Whether supervising or managing in core production operations, or involved in any of the various supporting functions, all participants will have an appreciation of the typical challenges of day-to-day manufacturing. If you want to grow your own career and enhance your contribution as a business manager, this programme will prove its worth.
This is a 10-day programme, divided over 4 modules - 2 of 2 days and 2 of 3 days. The sessions will be a mixture of teaching inputs, focused discussion and interactive workshop style. Comprehensive notes will be provided throughout.
Before the Programme starts you will get a unique 'Integrating Kit' which will help you prepare well to take maximum benefit from the programme and to integrate it with your day-to-day work afterwards.
You will be encouraged to undertake a work-based project as part of the programme. This will help you to work out and implement ideas from the programme. You will get constructive one-to-one support and feedback on this project.
The team running this Programme is drawn from a panel of full-time professional trainers and practicing managers. All have a wealth of practical management experience. Kevin Smith, Principal of Kevin Smith & Associates, will lead and manage the programme throughout.
The programme builds on a number of themes which are interwoven and developed throughout the individual sessions:
